Poet and scientist Henri Frans de Ziel (1916 – 1975), better known as Trefossa, experimented with poetry in Sranan. He also wrote the national anthem of Suriname. The monument, made by Erwin de Vries in 2012, is located near the presidential palace and Zeelandiaweg. This is the second version since the original one was stolen. |
